National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett appeared on Fox Business Friday to try to spin the woeful 1.5% GDP growth last quarter, rising inflation, and surging farm bankruptcies.
“I think that America’s farmers have had some tough breaks,” Hassett said.
“A bumper crop in Brazil made it so prices went down globally, the disruptions in the Gulf have made fertilizer prices go up, and it’s really, really important that we help farmers—we get them the relief they need at this difficult time.”
“Disruptions in the Gulf” is certainly one way to refer to President Donald Trump’s disastrous Iran war.
Hassett also left out one of the biggest drivers of increased costs for Americans: Trump’s tariffs.
As Trump’s approval rating shows, Hassett can omit any fact he likes.
The American people still know who’s to blame.
