A Reno woman was arrested on charges of arson Wednesday in Sierra County, California, after allegedly causing a fire on forest land near Crystal Peak mine, southeast of Loyalton.
Sarah Ortstadt, 50, was arrested on one count of arson.
Other charges included possessing a controlled substance suspected as methamphetamine and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Ortstadt was booked into the Nevada County jail in Nevada City, Calif., with bail set at $15,000, according to jail records.
The Sierra County Sheriff's Office responded to a vegetation fire Aug. 5 in the Dog Valley area after receiving a report of smoke visible from a nearby residence.
During the investigation, deputies located evidence that led them to identify the fire originated at Ortstadt's campsite.
The fire was contained, and burned roughly 2.5 acres in the area, according to Watch Duty.
