Max Miller is getting worse by the minute.
On Tuesday morning, lawyers for Miller’s ex-wife, Emily Moreno, <a href="https://x.com/DittiePE/status/2084627192642748804">accused</a> the GOP lawmaker of releasing photos of the couple’s 2-year-old daughter’s genitals.
Shortly after, Miller’s attorney <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2026/08/04/congress/max-miller-daughter-abuse-image-01023575">admitted</a> to inadvertently releasing sensitive photos of the couple’s daughter, which were included in a trove of supposed "evidence" Miller made public over the weekend to try to deny <a href="https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2026/7/30/800077418/news/democrats-want-republican-probed-over-disturbing-abuse-allegations/">domestic violence allegations</a> levied by his former spouse.
“There were no images of ‘genitals,’” Miller’s lawyer, Aaron Minc, told Politico, adding that he was the one responsible for the photos’ inclusion in the trove of documents.
“A two-year-old girl had her shirt off.
That is a deliberately false, sensationalized, and disgusting characterization.”

Moreno even accused Miller of holding his granddaughter’s “little blue bunny … hostage for 48 hours” during a custody exchange.
“This is the level of total and complete depravity,” Moreno <a href="https://x.com/CHueyBurns/status/2084669840111915372">told</a> reporters on Capitol Hill.
On top of that, former Trump administration press secretary Stephanie Grisham—Miller’s ex-girlfriend who during Donald Trump’s first term <a href="https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2026/7/28/800076256/elections/gop-happy-to-support-lawmaker-accused-of-domestic-violence/">accused Miller of domestic violence</a>—<a href="https://x.com/MarkSZaidEsq/status/2084410510284386706">filed a temporary restraining order</a> against Miller, seeking to <a href="https://x.com/Harri_Leigh/status/2084652422178197828">gag him</a> from making statements about her.
According to MS NOW, Grisham is accusing Miller of violating a nondisclosure agreement the pair signed in 2021, after Miller sued her for defamation for saying he abused her.
The ramping up of the domestic violence scandal is leaving Republicans—including Trump—worried about their <a href="https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2026/8/4/800079216/news/chuck-edwards-ethics-report-north-carolina/">odds</a> of holding on to Miller’s otherwise strongly Republican Ohio House seat.
Some Republicans <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/03/us/politics/max-miller-ohio-moreno-election-republicans.html">want to push Miller out of the race</a> before Wednesday, the deadline for Ohio Republicans to be able to replace Miller on the ballot.
Trump on Monday reportedly called Miller to tell him that "things aren't looking good" for his reelection odds, Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/08/04/trump-max-miller-moreno-election-house">reported</a>—though it's unclear if Trump actually asked Miller to drop out.
Trump publicly defended Miller on Monday and called the abuse scandal "sad."
Yet Miller is digging in his heels.
He told Trump he has no plans to drop out, Axios reported, apparently telling the president that he has polling numbers showing that he will be okay in his reelection bid.
And on Tuesday, Miller made it clear publicly that he is not stepping aside.
"In light of all the renewed interest in my family affairs I am going to file my own paperwork for an ethics investigation into myself to clear my name from these horrific attacks on myself and family.
I have absolutely nothing to hide," Miller <a href="https://x.com/MaxMillerOH/status/2084665339799822436">wrote</a> in a post on X.
"We will be providing the committee all necessary documents needed for a detail examination.
The accusations continue to change, but my facts stay the same.
I am looking forward to my colleagues reading everything for themselves."
The scandal threatens to cost Republicans a seat they need to win if they have any chance at retaining their House majority.
And it is even threatening to sink other vulnerable GOP lawmakers, as they are being asked questions about Miller’s conduct.
Ohio Sen.
Jon Husted, who is at risk of losing reelection to Democratic former Sen.
Sherrod Brown in November, refused to call on Miller to step aside.
“Let's focus on letting them sort this at a family level.
The political ramifications I think will work themselves out but I just personally am sad about the situation and I hope that the president’s intervention can help move things along,” Husted <a href="https://x.com/Reporter_Mia/status/2084639470549098723">told</a> Newsmax.
It seems Americans are going to find out this fall whether Republicans prioritize partisan politics over disturbing domestic violence allegations.
