Trump would rather side with Iran than a blue state 80%

Earlier this week, more than 30 municipal water systems in Minnesota came under a coordinated cyberattack, one that both U.S. and state officials suspect is the work of Iranian hackers.
But if you think a president currently engaged in a war against Iran would therefore condemn the attacks, you’d be wrong.
President Donald is blaming Minnesota.
“We heard in Minnesota there was a cyberattack and they blame it on Iran.
I don't think so, I think I blame it on Minnesota because they're grossly incompetent,” he said during a Cabinet meeting on Friday.
“There was a cyberattack of 30 water plants and I would blame it on Minnesota and the governor, the corrupt governor of Minnesota.
They like to say, ‘Oh, it was Iran.’
Iran should be so lucky.
Iran's got bigger problems than worrying about Minnesota.”
This is unhinged.
Driven by his loathing for Minnesota’s Democratic Gov.
Tim Walz for the crime of being on the presidential ticket that ran against him in 2024, and by his loathing for Minnesotans for standing up to his murderous immigration thugs, Trump is defending the honor of Iran—the country he is bombing.
It’s also unhinged because Trump’s own federal government has been warning about this possibility for months.
In April, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, along with the FBI, the National Security Agency, and others, published a joint advisory warning that Iran-affiliated hackers were targeting water and wastewater systems by trying to compromise internet-connected devices, such as controllers that allow remote management of water equipment.
And Minnesota officials have stated that these new attacks did just that.
Wired obtained communications to members of the Water Information Sharing and Analysis Center, an industry group, saying that the Minnesota Fusion Center, the state’s umbrella intelligence-sharing entity, had issued an alert and found the attacks were likely “aligned” with this Iran-affiliated hacking campaign.
The reported lack of a ransom demand to the affected areas also points to Iran, with the goal of the attacks seeming to be disruption, not financial gain as with ransomware attacks on municipalities.
Additionally, we know Iran has been launching cyberattacks since Trump’s war began, including successfully hitting Stryker, a major medical equipment company, in March.
Of course, Iran-linked hackers also successfully broke into FBI Director Kash Patel’s personal email account earlier this year, releasing photos of the incompetent dork sniffing Cuban cigars and looking at himself in the mirror.
Despite all this, and despite the fact that at least seven states have been impacted by the recent cyberattacks, per the FBI, Trump is so blind with hatred that he’s siding with Iran here.
So now we have the ridiculous specter of Trump declaring that Iran is not to blame even as CISA, his own cyber defense agency, issued a new alert on Thursday, warning of an increase in actors targeting water infrastructure.
It’s just the latest instance of the crumbling of federalism, of Trump using the federal government as a weapon against Democratic-run states.
This is no different than his refusal to grant disaster aid to blue states while giving it to red ones, no different than the Department of Justice admitting in court that it stripped energy grants from states based on whether they voted for Trump.
What’s the plan here, really?
Does the federal government now stop working with Minnesota on this because the crumbling madman in the White House must be appeased?
Do we have to now all pretend that there is no coordinated Iranian hacking campaign?
Do red states get assistance from the federal government to combat this while blue states twist in the wind?
We’ll just have to wait and see, apparently, but this is no way to run a country.
