A body found Thursday along Interstate 45 is believed to be that of Willis resident Steven Collier, who was reported missing by his family on Monday, Conroe officials said.
Officers with the Conroe Police Department responded to the report of a body in a wooded area near a walking trail around 1:15 p.m., according to a news release.
While the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, the clothing was consistent with what Collier was last seen wearing.
MAKEOVER: The Woodlands plans art makeovers for 8 trolley shelters along the waterway
Conroe Police Detectives, along with Crime Scene Investigators, responded to the scene and found no obvious signs of trauma or injuries to the man.
The body was later transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for an autopsy and identification.
Officials said an autopsy will confirm if the body is Collier.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information was available.
