FLINT, Mich.  Republican Larry Hutchinson and Democratic incumbent Rep. 
Cynthia Neeley advanced from Tuesday’s primary election, setting up a November general election matchup in the 70th House District race. 
Hutchinson won the Republican nomination, defeating Rob Waskoviak 872 votes to 563. 
Neeley secured the Democratic nomination with 9,915 votes, earning 90.71% of the ballots cast. 
Neeley faced Democratic primary opposition from Michael Clack, a former Flint Community Schools Board of Education member, who was disqualified from the ballot but continued his campaign as a write-in candidate. 
She was first elected to the state House in 2020, succeeding her husband, Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley. 
Waskoviak previously ran as a Republican against Neeley in 2024. 
Hutchinson has previously run for office several times, including campaigns for mayor of Lansing in 2021, Michigan secretary of state in 2022 as the Green Party nominee, a U.S. 
House seat in Rhode Island in 2023 and president in 2024. 
The general election will be held on Nov. 
3, 2026.
