PHILADELPHIA—About 50 people squeezed into a basement room at the Philadelphia City Institute library to hear Chris Rabb, a democratic socialist who recently won a congressional primary in Pennsylvania’s deep-blue 3rd district, and California Rep. 
Ro Khanna, a fifth-term progressive Democrat who’s scouting a 2028 presidential bid. 
Khanna polled the room, asking for a show of hands from people who consider their top political issue to be what’s happening in the West Bank and Gaza. 
“All of the pundits say, ‘Oh, they don’t care about that,’” he said after half the crowd raised their hands. 
He was leading the witness. 
If he asked this group who considers their top political issue to be ensuring that the Eagles win their third straight NFC East title while keeping the Cowboys out of the playoffs, everyone would've erupted. 
I’d love to believe that possible, but my instincts tell me that a Trumpian base will be around for at least several major election cycles before it has a chance to end. 
I think the best hope would be either getting rid of the primaries, where the stupidity-density seems to be strongest, or reform them to the point where we won't have such bad choices as Trump, Paxton and the three Mamdani-endorsed DSA scumbags who recently won in NYC. 
They aren't mandated in the Constitution, so Congress could actually do something about them. 
I agree that Trump will be around in some form for some time, but I could never vote for Ro Khanna. 
He and Trump are two politicians I automatically mute. 
I can’t stand to hear either one. 
I am a former Democrat but have never voted for Democrats only. 
Could one of the political parties just give me someone I can vote for? 
I really wish we could have ranked choice voting. 
I feel the same way.
