Firefighters from Arlington and neighboring jurisdictions battled a house fire in the Country Club Hills neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
The blaze was reported just after 1 p.m. amid heavy rain and at least one nearby lightning strike, though the cause of the fire is not currently known.
Arriving firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a house set well back from the street.
A second and then third alarm was sounded as firefighters worked to battle the flames.
Around the time of the third alarm, a mayday was declared for an injured firefighter, who was quickly removed from the house and taken via ambulance to a local hospital.
“One firefighter was transported with non-life-threatening injuries,” the Arlington County Fire Department said via social media.
“There were no injuries to the occupants.”
All fire was reported to be extinguished by 2:30 p.m.
“Fire Marshals will investigate the origin and cause,” ACFD said.
