New York State Police are currently responding to a minivan crash involving nine victims on the southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Ramapo.
The van appears to have crashed into a tree on the median after veering off the roadway near Exit 11.
The accident was reported around 1:10 p.m., Aug. 3, according to New York State Police.
Nine people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash and all sustained injuries of "varying severity," according to a news release from state police.
Eight victims were transported to Westchester Medical Center and one was taken to Montefiore Nyack Hospital.
Seven of the victims were children, according to a social media statement posted by Rockland Paramedic Services.
Spring Hill Ambulance, Hatzolah and New Square EMS responded with multiple ambulances, the statement reads.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area near the crash, which has sparked lane closures and traffic delays along the major roadway.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
