Helena Foulkes raises $900K as fundraising gap with McKee widens 57%

The McKee campaign said it raised $250,000 in the second quarter and did not provide a snapshot of his account balance.
He started the second quarter with $1.4 million in the bank.
Second quarter campaign finance reports are due to the state Board of Elections by midnight Friday, July 31, and as of mid-afternoon neither gubernatorial campaign had posted their official filings.
“Helena hears from Rhode Islanders all the time about how eager they are for change," Foulkes campaign spokeswoman Angelika Pellegrino said in a news release.
"Helena has been crisscrossing the state earning the support of Rhode Islanders and sharing her vision of a state where everyone has a home they can afford, a great public school to send their kids to, access to quality healthcare, and a governor who is focused on reining in the out of control cost of living."
The McKee campaign argues that while it isn't raising as much as Foulkes, the incumbent's donations are coming from the local Democratic base.
"Gov.
McKee closed out another strong quarter powered by Rhode Islanders across the state," campaign spokesman Sophie Mestas wrote.
"Organized labor and the Democratic base are rallying behind his campaign because they know exactly who Dan McKee fights for: working people not corporate interests."
