It seems students at UC Santa Barbara had long forgotten about the Children’s Miracle Network fundraiser Dance Marathon — last hosted in 2018.

That was until a group of students decided to revive the event and bring it back to campus this year with a goal of raising $20,000 to create a lasting impact in the lives of local children and families, organizers said.

Spearheaded by UCSB senior McCabe Christian with the help of Marisa Little, Harper Hohman, and Caitlin Peck, year-long fundraiser has started and the Dance Marathon is expected to take place in April.

The search for community engagement across performers, fundraisers, and local businesses is in progress in an effort to draw for children’s health.

The Dance Marathon consists of four hours of activities, including performances from university and K-12 students, fundraising pushes, and an open dance floor.

Throughout the school year, the Dance Marathon team plans to hold interest meetings, outreach events, and visits to local organizations to talk about fundraising strategies.

Free admission and volunteer opportunities will be available at Dance Marathon.
