The following is a letter from Quillette editor Claire Lehmann.
Dear Readers,
I’m writing to you today from the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway that connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman.
It is one of the world’s most important shipping lanes, carrying a significant portion of the world’s oil supply.
The Strait is also a strategically important location, as it is bordered by Iran on the north and Oman on the south.
The Strait of Hormuz has been a site of conflict and tension for centuries, and it continues to be a flashpoint in the Middle East today.
I am here in Hormuz to witness firsthand the geopolitical situation and to understand the potential implications for the global economy.
The Strait is a vital chokepoint, and any disruption to shipping here could have a significant impact on oil prices and the global economy.
I will be reporting on my findings in the coming weeks.
In other news, I recently had the opportunity to visit the ancient city of Homer, Greece.
Homer is a city that is steeped in history and culture, and it is home to some of the most important archaeological sites in the world.
I was particularly struck by the beauty of the Acropolis, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Acropolis is a testament to the power and ingenuity of the ancient Greeks, and it is a must-see for anyone who is interested in history and culture.
I will be sharing more about my travels in the coming weeks, and I hope that you will join me on this journey.
Sincerely,
Claire Lehmann
